TGD TRAVEL GUIDES

Useful travel ideas before you book.

Practical, original guidance to help travellers compare experiences, plan realistic days and make better booking decisions.

Dubai first-timer's planning guide

Dubai is easiest to enjoy when you group activities by area instead of crossing the city several times in one day. Keep one major attraction as the anchor of each half-day, then add nearby dining, shopping or sightseeing around it.

For a short stay, balance three different types of experience: a city landmark or observation experience, a cultural or neighbourhood visit, and one leisure activity such as a waterpark, desert experience or evening event. Families should also leave recovery time between high-energy attractions.

TGD planning tip: Before purchasing, compare the attraction's operating hours, expected duration and transport requirements. A cheaper ticket is not necessarily better value if the timing makes the rest of your day difficult.

Choosing attractions for children

Start with age and height suitability, but also consider heat, walking distance, queues and how long children can comfortably stay engaged. Indoor attractions can be useful during the hottest part of a UAE summer day, while outdoor experiences are often more comfortable earlier or later.

Check whether the supplier defines child eligibility by age, height or both. Also review whether strollers, outside food, transfers or re-entry are permitted. These small details can materially affect a family day out.

Building a balanced UAE itinerary

Dubai and Abu Dhabi work well together because they offer different rhythms. Dubai can provide dense clusters of entertainment, shopping and iconic sightseeing, while Abu Dhabi adds major cultural attractions, waterfront areas and theme-park options on Yas Island.

If your stay is long enough, avoid treating every day as a checklist. Alternate high-activity days with lighter days. This usually creates a more enjoyable trip and gives you flexibility if weather, traffic or opening hours change.

Before booking any experience

Read the inclusions and exclusions, cancellation policy, voucher instructions, meeting point, transfer arrangement and child policy before paying. For timed-entry products, confirm whether the time you select is the attraction entry time, pickup time or a broader operating window.

For external partner bookings, TGD may direct you to the partner's secure checkout after collecting basic contact information. Always review the final supplier price and terms before completing payment.
